You and your loved ones will remember your wedding day for the rest of your lives, so we do our very best to make sure every big day is as special as can be.
At Heritage Venues we work with all our happy couples to create a day totally tailored to them, so they can relax and celebrate with their nearest and dearest – while we sort out everything else!
Our venues are set in idyllic Berkshire and can be decorated to suit your tastes, no matter what style you may have in mind.
In our couple’s spotlight today, we’re looking back at Katherine and Sam’s autumnal, rustic wedding where they exchanged vows at one of the most popular wedding locations in Berkshire, Stanlake Park.
Katherine and Sam’s love story and choosing Stanlake Park
What started as an office romance where the pair bonded over their shared love of good food, weekends away and shared laughter, turned into forever when Sam proposed in 2019.
After only two wedding venue viewings, the pair decided that Stanlake Park was the perfect place to say “I do” to each other.
“We visited the venue on a beautiful sunny August day and fell in love with the grounds. We were sold on the flow the day could take from Coach house, to courtyard, through the walled garden vineyard, across the lawn to the Vineyard Barn where the sunlight filtered through the windows looking out on the vineyard.”
The newly renovated Stanlake Park is set in the grounds of Berkshire’s finest wine estate and provides a stunning backdrop for anyone’s special day.
Adding the special touches to their big day
When it came to planning the big day, Katherine and Sam already had a vague idea in mind. They wanted an autumnal and rustic theme that featured orange roses, eucalyptus, and wooden touches.
They imagined a relaxed day for their guests with a natural flow of events and activities, which made Stanlake Park the perfect option.
We pride ourselves on letting our couples have free rein on their big day, allowing them to add their own finishing touches and unique additions to the Stanlake Park buildings.
Katherine contributed a lot of her own finishing touches, from using photos on the table plans, decorations for the center pieces and even her own dried petals to use for confetti.
“It was important to us to keep decorations simple to make the most of the beautiful venue. We also added finishing touches such as fairy lights on the barn beams and beautiful flowers from a local florist.”
The highlights of Katherine and Sam’s special day
When asked about the highlights of their special day, the food was a clear winner.
“We were blown away by the food and drink on our tasting evening and I wish we could eat there more often! The mushroom ravioli was the best I’ve ever had. Our guests were raving about the duck starter and the ravioli in particular but all the food in general!”
Katherine and Sam also chose to serve their guests the special Stanlake Park wine which is made from grapes found on the estate’s vineyards. They chose the Regatta, Rosé, and Reserve Red as well as the Heritage Brut sparkling and Rebellion lager from Marlow Brewery.
As the wedding was held in the summer, the pair couldn’t pass up the chance to serve Pimm’s in the courtyard, which made for the perfect reception for guests to enjoy.
Looking back and advice for other couples
After celebrating with their nearest and dearest at Stanlake Park, we asked Katherine and Sam if they would go back and change anything if they could:
“If I were to do it all again, I wouldn’t change a thing! We loved the whole day and have been told over and over again what a great wedding it was! It was such a perfect day full of family and friends after so long apart!”
With sunny weather and the Heritage Venues staff on-hand to make the day go smoothly, Katherine and Sam were able to enjoy a stress-free day that went all according to plan.
“One highlight would definitely be the sparklers outside the Vineyard barn which was a lot of fun and helped us get some great photos that we will treasure forever!”
Finally, do Katherine and Sam have any advice for other couples looking to plan their wedding at Stanlake Park?
“To relax and enjoy every moment! Don’t try and do too much! It’s such a beautiful venue and the staff know what they are doing and will help make the day perfect!”
